The Friends of Arkesden Church is a non secular group that was inaugurated some 30 years ago for the purpose of raising funds to maintain the building and fabric of the church in order to keep it in good order.

Every five years the church undergoes a quinquennial inspection by the church architect, who advises the Parochial Church Council (PCC) of essential items that need remedying. The PCC in turn will approach the Friends to assist with the funding of some of the works, such as rectifying damp on the North Wall, the installation of water, reroofing and the erection of a new notice
board.

In December 2016 the PCC requested the church architects to prepare a feasibility study to re-order the church to create a more flexible church and community space. Work is ongoing to finalise and get approval for a scheme that meets the scope and financial objectives of the PCC. This initiative has been the focus of fundraising for the Friends in recent years and will continue to be as the project progresses.

The Friends comprises a small group of enthusiastic village residents who run plan and run fundraising events. It’s an informal committee and we are always happy to welcome new members.
